Smoking Cessation Classes Start October 2 at Health Department
The Putnam County Department of Health will be offering Freedom from Smoking, an evidence-based smoking cessation program, to individuals who live or work in Putnam County. Classes will be held in person on Mondays from 6 to 7:30 p.m., beginning October 2 through November 13, with an extra class on Thursday October 26. Please note class will meet on Tuesday, October 10 due to Monday October 9 being a holiday. The program will be at no cost to the participants, and they will be supplied with free Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) as long as the supply lasts. Hundreds of thousands of people have become smoke-free through a Freedom From Smoking® Group Clinic which offers a structured, systematic approach to quitting smoking. Overseen by a certified facilitator, you will learn:
- How to know if you’re really ready to quit
- Medications that can increase your success
- Lifestyle changes to make quitting easier
- How to prepare for your quit day
- Coping strategies for managing stress & avoiding weight gain
- How to stay smokefree for good

- Monday October 16, from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm

- Thursday October 26, from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm
- Monday October 30, from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm
- Monday November 6, from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm
- Monday November 13, from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm
