NYSDOT RT 52 Paving in Carmel and Kent:

Beginning this week, NYSDOT will be starting a project which includes pavement resurfacing of State Route 52 from Fowler Ave in the Town of Carmel to just after the State Route 311 intersection in the Town of Kent. Resurfacing will include roadway milling, paving and new pavement striping.

NYSDOT will also repair some stormwater catch basins along State Route 52 in the Town of Carmel. New concrete curbing will be installed around the island plantings at the intersection of State Route 52 and State Route 311 in the Town of Kent. Additionally, new video detection cameras will be installed at the traffic lights within the project limits.

The catch basins, traffic signal work and new curb installation has an anticipated completion of the end of July. The majority of the milling and paving of State Route 52 will take place in August with an expected completion of August 31, 2023. Due to the nature of the work, the milling and paving of State Route 52 will take place at night.

Motorists are urged to slow down and drive responsibly in work zones. Fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. Convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver license.

For up-to-date travel information, we encourage motorists to visit www.511NY.org or download the free 511NY mobile app.
